Women's Choir

We're very proud of our Women's Choir

Chorus II: Women’s Choir
Grade: 9 and above                 Length: One year/one credit
Women’s Choir is a yearlong course primarily for freshman and sophomore women, although membership is also open to upper-class students who have no prior choral experience.  Major topics include singing posture, breath control, tone production and placement, intonation, vowel formation, diction, basic musicianship skills, note reading and sight-reading.  Students will be challenged and given the tools to become independent singers, to think critically, to develop an understanding of the historical and cultural context of different styles of music and to learn to work together as a team.  Repertoire will include a variety of styles, genres, and languages.  In addition to the four McKay choir concerts scheduled throughout the year, this choir will participate in the district Women’s Choir Festival.
